Dean Huijsen makes his Spain debut
Dean Huijsen will never forget 20 March 2025. At the age of 19, the tall centre-back made his first appearance for the Spain senior team, becoming Luis de la Fuente's 23rd debutant.
Having previously played seven games for the Under-21s, Dean, who wore the ‘14’ shirt for his first cap, came on in the 40th minute to replace the injured Pau Cubarsí in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-final at The Kuip.
Born in Amsterdam on 14 April 2005, the youngster came through the youth ranks at Málaga CF, before moving on to Juventus, where he made his professional debut, and then heading to AS Roma at youth level. He currently plays for AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.
