Spanish footballing stakeholders meet to determine measures to deal with incidents inside stadiums

The National Sports Office of the National Police, the Royal Spanish Football Federation, LaLiga and the Spanish Association of Football Team Doctors (AEMEF) met this Tuesday to analyse incidents in professional football stadiums, especially those affecting the public, and their impact on matches.

Progress has been made on a coordination protocol between the UCO (Organisational Control Unit) and the refereeing team, both for incidents that occur on the field of play and those that happen in the stands, even covering events outside the stadiums when they affect events inside the stadium. The objective is to maintain a safe environment for fans and players, and to be able to provide a rapid and effective response from the relevant professionals present: Security Forces as well as health and private security personnel, etc.

In addition, the existing protocol against violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in football, which was inspired by the FIFA protocol, was analysed in order to highlight the procedures to be followed from now on in the event of events of this nature and how each step should be applied and communicated, measures discussed included; stoppages of matches, the temporary suspension of play and their definitive suspension.

The institutions involved are preparing a final document with the procedures to be followed in each case. Said document will be communicated as soon as possible.
